Astrarium — Privacy policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026 · applies to Astrarium: Clockwork Skies for Android (Google Play)
1. Who is responsible
Astrarium (“the game”) is published under the name auton by:
Felber PatrickFriesstrasse 18-20/22, 2540 Bad Vöslau, Austria
Email: hello@auton.at
2. The short version
- The game has no account and never learns your name. If you agree, it sends anonymous play and error statistics to our own server in the EU (section 6); you can switch this off at any time.
- Your progress stays on your device.
- Reward videos are never forced. They come from Google's advertising service, and only that service receives data, as described in section 4.
- The one purchase, Patron, is handled entirely by Google Play. A Patron's game does not contact the advertising service at all.
3. What the game stores on your device
To let you continue where you left off, the game keeps one file in its private app storage: your Starlight, what you have opened in the Atlas, your records, your settings and an unfinished run. The game sends this file nowhere and we cannot see it. If Android backup is switched on for your Google account, Android may include the file in your device backup, which Google stores for you; we have no access to it. You can delete the file at any time by uninstalling the game or by choosing “Clear storage” for Astrarium in your Android settings.
4. Reward videos
At a few places the game offers a reward for watching a video (a second wind, doubled Starlight, a free new set of three, a daily gift). You touch the offer or you do not; nothing is ever shown without your touch, and never during a flight. The videos come from Google's advertising service AdMob (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland).
- At the start (your first visit, until you have finished three runs) the game contacts no advertising service.
- After that the game asks Google's consent service whether you have to be asked about advertising where you live. This request reaches Google with your IP address.
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland nothing more happens until you touch a video offer for the first time. Then Google's dialog asks for your answer. You can refuse and the game stays exactly the same; you may then see advertising that is not based on your data, or sometimes none.
- Elsewhere the advertising service is started and one video is loaded, so that it is ready when you want it.
Once the advertising service runs, Google receives: your IP address (from which a general location can be estimated), your device's advertising ID and app set ID, how you interact with the advertisement (it was opened, watched, touched), and diagnostic data (such as start time and energy use). Google and its advertising partners use this to show and measure advertising and to prevent fraud; with your consent also to personalise it. The data is sent encrypted. How Google uses data from apps that show its advertising: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Changing your answer: in the game under Settings → “Privacy choices”, at any time. You can also reset or delete the advertising ID in your phone's settings.
Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021) where the dialog asks; elsewhere our legitimate interest in paying for a free game through advertising that players choose to watch (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
5. Patron, the one purchase
The whole game is free. Patron is a one-time purchase through Google Play for players who want to support the game: every video reward at a touch without a video, a trail colour and a mark on the result card. Payment is handled by Google; we never see your name or your payment details. The game only receives Google Play's confirmation that the purchase exists (a purchase token and its status), so it can give you Patron on this device and again after you reinstall it with the same Google account. For that, Google's Play Billing component inside the game talks to the Google Play app from the first start (it asks what Patron costs and whether your account holds it) and sends Google technical logs about these requests; Google's privacy policy applies. Legal basis: performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
When you become a Patron, the game stops contacting the advertising service and erases your answer about advertising from the device.
6. Anonymous usage data (optional)
If you agree, the game sends anonymous play and error statistics to our own server in the EU, so we can see where players get stuck and fix errors: which levels you start and finish, which upgrades you pick, whether offers are used, the app version, a coarse device description (phone or tablet, memory and screen size in groups, graphics chip family) and error messages. It uses a random number made on your device, not your name, account, advertising ID or device ID, and it does not store your IP address.
- In the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland (going by your device's region or time zone) the game asks you once at the first start, before anything is stored or sent. Nothing is collected unless you agree.
- Elsewhere it is on from the first start.
You can switch it off at any time in Settings; that deletes the random number and the unsent data on your device. We delete the data on our server after 90 days and keep only totals that cannot be traced to you. The data is stored with Cloudflare in the EU (Cloudflare acts for us under a data processing agreement). If you are under 16, please ask a parent first.
Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021) where the game asks; elsewhere our legitimate interest in finding and fixing problems in the game (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
To see or delete the data of your installation, send the number shown in Settings to hello@auton.at.
7. What the game does not do
- Apart from sections 4, 5 and 6, the game makes no network connections.
- It has no account or sign-in and uses no tracking software, and no analytics or crash-reporting software of third parties beyond Google's advertising component described in section 4. Our own usage statistics (section 6) are optional and anonymous.
- It asks for no access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts or files.
Google Play itself may collect technical data about the app (for example crash reports), depending on your Android settings; this is covered by Google's privacy policy.
8. Children
Astrarium is meant for players aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone.
9. Contacting us
If you email us, we use your message and email address only to answer you and delete them when the matter is closed, unless the law requires us to keep them (legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
10. Your rights
Apart from the optional usage data in section 6, which we can only find through the number shown in the game's Settings, we hold no data about you from the game; for the data Google holds, Google's privacy policy says how to use your rights there. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection under the GDPR, and you can withdraw a consent at any time (sections 4 and 6); just email hello@auton.at. You can also complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority (dsb.gv.at).
11. Changes
If a future version of the game changes how it handles data, we will update this policy before that version is released and change the date above.
